Exhibitions
Imagine sipping wine in our columned banquet room and looking through a wall of
glass at a tuxedo clad rider and horse dancing to music, or a world class gymnast
spinning cartwheels on the back of a cantering horse. We offer equestrian exhibitions in two riding disciplines: Vaulting and Dressage.
VAULTING EXHIBITIONS
Vaulting is defined as gymnastics on the back of a moving horse. The vaulting competition is judged on the correct execution of compulsory exercises as well as free-style programs choreographed to music. The team program includes programs choreographed to music. In the team program there may be as many as 3 vaulters on the horse at any time.
Vaulting is a relatively new sport in the United States, with close to 80 percent of the teams located in Northern California. The team that exhibits at Flying Cloud is our resident team, the Silver Bay Vaulters. Silver Bay Vaulters range in age from 9 years old through adult. Their 3 gold vaulters have competed in Europe with the top teams in the world, and one has been on the US team that competed at the World Equestrian Games in Spain.

DRESSAGE EXHIBITIONS
Almost unheard of in the United States 30 years ago, dressage today is one of the fastest growing disciplines of horsemanship in America. From the French word meaning “to train”, this method of training is the foundation for all disciplines of riding in Europe.
Competitive dressage has always been very popular in Europe, especially in Germany,
where the musical freestyle rides at top international level competitions will draw crowds
of 100,000 or more. We offer dressage exhibitions by Jeannette Derammelaere, a well-known local competitor. She demonstrates her International Level Freestyle
(ride choreographed to music) on Menslage who she bought in Germany as a yearling
and has trained and shown successfully to the international levels.

Boarding
Flying Cloud offers boarding facilities and services for a limited number of horses. We offer 14’ X 24’ and 20’ X 30’ covered paddocks, and pasture board in the summer. Our boarding facilities include our 100’ X 220’ covered arena, two 100’ all weather round pens, two outdoor arenas, and a ½ mile galloping track.
